Walter Bencini was born in Montevarchi. In 1997 he founded the production company Insekt Film that produces documenaries and TV series for the national and international circuits; the topics range from art, history, architecture, environment, food and social causes.

Regarding his film, Bencini stated “Through the professional career of Casaro I wanted to represent the film poster genre of post-War Italy.."
