Eighteen years after his death, Vittorio Gassman’s remarkable career as an actor onscreen and onstage is re-evoked in this film tribute that looks at the golden years of the “Italian-style” comedies in Italian cinema. Reminiscences by colleagues and family are combined with film clips and recordings of stage performances and TV shows to create this portrait of an exuberant entertainer but also a man, with his more hidden, vulnerable side.
Fabrizio Corallo, born in Trani, graduated with a law degree. Since 1979, he has been involved in cinema and entertainment and has assisted the directors of several films, including Pupi Avati and Renzo Arbore. He moved to Rome in 1980 and began writing articles dedicated above all to cinema but also to TV, theater and music for various newspapers.
Regarding Gassman, Corallo stated "I had the good fortune of spending time with him and knowing his well. I met hism on the set of many films and shows but mostly at after-theatre dinners and long after-dinner get-togethers with friends and colleagues, during which he spoke of his life and, work with interesting anecdotes, revealing a wealth of information".
