PLOT: It’s never to late to change your life!  At least this is what three Romans in their seventies--Attilio, Giorgetto and the Professor—hope to do as they decide to renounce their old lives and go live abroad.  But where?  That is only the first of a long series of questions to resolve; the Professor, who is retired from a long career teaching Latin, gets easily bored; Giorgetto, one of the last true Romans, struggles every month to make ends meet; Attilio, a hippie antique dealer, wants to experience again the emotions of his youthful travels. Things will change, but not quite as they expected.

Gianni Di Gregorio was born in Rome. He wrote the screenplays for numerous films, winning the David di Donatello award for Best Screenplay for Gomorra. In addition, he won the David di Donatello award for Best New Director for his film Mid-August Lunch.

Regarding Citizens of the World, Di Gregorio stated “after three years of work I came to write a short story first, published by Sellerio and then the screenplay for the film. From this starting point, I came to talk about a topic that is very close to my heart: the good instinct, that we all have, certainly some more and some less."
