PLOT: When Sardinian-Australian Lisa Camillo, an anthropologist and film director, returned to Sardinia after a fifteen year absence in Australia, to her horror she finds that large chunks of her island home have been devastated by mysterious bombs. 
She uncovers secret NATO bombing ranges that have had catastrophic consequences on the local human and animal populations, setting Lisa on a journey to expose the truth, join the islanders’ fight to reclaim their land and livelihoods and, in doing so, learn about herself and her roots.
'Balentes’ is a Sardinian word meaning ‘a man of valour’, one who strives for social justice, defending the weak against the oppressors. All the people of the film are 'balentes’ who without realizing it are waging a war for justice Sardinians have always been a warrior people, a fact sometimes forgotten, combatting the many invaders landing on their shores over the ages, testified by the recent archeological discoveries of the statues of the ‘Giants of Monte Prama’, ready to attack all invaders with courage and valour.

Lisa Camillo, born in Rome, directed her first full-length film Balentes (I Coraggiosi) in 2018.

Camillo stated: “When I returned to Sardinia, an island of Italy, after a 15 year absence in Australia, to my horror I’ve found that large chunks of my homeland have been decimated by mysterious bombs. On my journey I've uncovered secret NATO bombing ranges that have been having devastating consequences on the local human and animal population, setting me on a journey to expose the truth, join the islanders’ fight to reclaim our land and livelihoods and, in doing so, learning about myself and my roots.”
