Giancarlo Fontana and Giuseppe Stasi, born in Matera, are childhood friends who moved to Rome to attend Sapienza University. They began their careers by producing and posting on the internet satirical spoofs that had viral success. Their first full length feature film was AmoreOggi in 2014.

About Put Grandma in the Freezer, Giancarlo Fontant said: “We worked well on the script because we have worked on satire; we have made a long journey, Giuseppe and I, starting from the web, and continuing on television, as the greats of the past - Monicelli above  all - analyzing in an ironic way the reality that surrounds us, the sad Italian reality. This film talks about a very complicated situation, it speaks of precariousness, of people trying to make ends meet.”
