PLOT: Vladimir is a young Italian-Russian, raised in St. Petersburg by his mother, a former opera singer who suffers from a broken heart, having been abandoned by her boyfriend after the birth of their son. When she dies, she entrusts Vladimir with a mission: find his father, a famous luthier who repairs the instruments of the Verona Opera.

Cristian De Mattheis was born in Teramo.  He worked as an assistant director with for numerous films, including Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York and Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ.  He made his directorial debut with Un amore così grande.

De Mattheis said of his film: “It is a love story, but it is not only a love story among the two protagonists, the two young people. I tried to tell a story of the different types of great love…the love of a son, the love of a mother, the love of a father and an teacher.”
