DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
Alissa Jung was born in Münster, in Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia in 1981. In 2016 she graduated with a degree in medicine. She has been married since 2018 to actor Luca Marinelli, whom she met on the miniseries Maria di Nazaret. After directing several shorts, in 2025 she made her directorial debut with Paternal Leave, presented at the Berlin International Film Fetival.

Regarding her film, Jung said: "I'm very happy because the audience who saw the film loved it, regardless of generation. Paternal Leave somehow speaks to so many: even if most of us haven't experienced such an extreme story, there are moments we recognize ourselves in, perhaps the pain a parent has caused us, or not being present. An emotion was felt by the viewers: everyone took something away, and for me it's beautiful because my greatest goal was to portray an emotion and not to make an exercise in cinematic style."
