  L'uomo che verra
  THE MAN WHO WILL COME
December 1943. Martina, the only child of a poor family of sharecroppers, is 8 years old and lives on the slopes of Monte Sole, near Bologna. Since the death of her baby brother several years before, Martina has stopped speaking. Her mother is pregnant again, and all of Martina's attentions are focused on the coming baby. In the meantime, the wartime frontline is slowly approaching and life is becoming more and more difficult as they are surrounded by the partisan brigades, commanded by Lupo, and the retreating Nazis. During the night of September 28-29, 1944, the baby boy is born. At the same time, the SS unleashes an unprecedented reprisal in the area, which will go down in history as “The Massacre of Marzabotto”.
